Mixed Media Wall Pieces
The structural format for this series of wall sculptures was inspired by the open wedge shape of the concreted Los Angeles River. Growing up in Orange County, CA most of the creeks and rivers were transformed into open concrete channels or covered over tubes.
The elongated "wedge" form of the wall pieces is a metaphor for our human obsessions with physically restructuring and confining the world around us. In each work images of landscape, water or organic process move across the surface or struggle against the rigid perimeter or edge, united in formal composition but often diametrically opposite in nature.
